Global sourcing has become a trend for many multinationals through both in-house sourcing and external specialized agents. Procurement solutions encompass key functions of product development, production planning, product sourcing, and quality control. As offices are now set up in regional areas closer to the in-house or OEM manufacturing sites, the function has become more decentralized from headquarters.

In the 1990s, China as a manufacturing hub attracted many companies to set up sourcing offices in Hong Kong and China. Over the last decade, the manufacturing base and sourcing offices have continued to grow, both in China and other Asian countries. At the same time, clients have more elevated expectations of their procurement & sourcing talent. Recruitment criteria has become more demanding.
